The Original Discovery
Two gutters, one cancelled, the other not, oddly marked by the provisional postage-due hand stamp PORTO, represent the initial September 2002 discovery. Both were stolen from the mail in September 2003. The provisional postage-due markings and cancellation proved spurious, the gutters themselves -- in the opinion of many -- genuine.
