Against the wishes of the artist, the 125h stamps were produced by ordinary typography. Since the engraved steel plates provided for the higher denominations were not used, the name of engraver Eduard Karel does not appear under the stamp. Also, unlike the higher denominations of the Masaryk issue, ordinary non-lithographed white paper was used.
While the stamps' official color was blue, they may be found in an officially unissued (sometimes postally used) ultramarine (pale blue) color.
There are two types of the 125h stamp. The types originated when two different printing blocks were used to make the auxiliary prints for the paste-up.
The same negative was used to produce both plates, thus flaws in the negative will appear on both plates. Since the negative in this case was composed of repeated copies of the same 25-stamp block, each flaw is systematically repeated on both plates.
